Hastelloy C276 Flanges Supplier in China
Key Benefits
- Extreme Corrosion Resistance:
They resist aggressive chemicals like wet chlorine gas, ferric chlorides, hypochlorites, and chlorine dioxide. - No Pitting or Cracking:
The high molybdenum content provides exceptional resistance to localized pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. - Withstands Acid Environments:
They offer excellent survivability in harsh reducing environments like hydrochloric, sulfuric, and phosphoric acids. - High Temperature Strength:
They maintain structural integrity and mechanical strength at extreme operating temperatures. - Excellent Weldability:
Low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation during welding, keeping joints strong and corrosion-resistant.

Common Types of Flanges
- Weld Neck Flange:
Feature a tapered hub for high-pressure and severe-service systems. - Slip-On Flange:
Slipped over the pipe and welded inside and out for easier alignment in lower-pressure lines. - Blind Flange:
Solid discs used to seal off the end of a piping system or pressure vessel. - Socket Weld Flange:
Ideal for smaller pipe diameters in high-pressure applications. - Threaded Flange:
Connected via internal threads, requiring no welding for installation.

The Relationship Between Hastelloy C276 Flanges and Pipes
Mechanical Connection
- The Structural Link:
Pipes are used for long-distance fluid transportation, while flanges are welded or threaded to the ends of those pipes. - Removable Segments:
Two matching flanges bolt together with a gasket in between, allowing separate pipe sections, valves, pumps, and reaction vessels to be connected or disconnected easily for maintenance, cleanouts, or inspections.
Identical Material Metallurgy
- Eliminating Galvanic Corrosion:
Both components share the exact same chemical composition. In highly conductive, corrosive media, using identical metals prevents galvanic corrosion. - No Weak Links:
A corrosive chemical loop is only as strong as its weakest component. If a project justifies the premium cost of Hastelloy C276 pipes, the connecting flanges must match that exact alloy grade to maintain uniform corrosion resistance throughout the system.
Welding Compatibility
- Seamless Joining:
Because the pipe and flange share the same metallurgy, they weld together seamlessly using matching filler metal. - No Post-Weld Heat Treatment:
Both products feature an ultra-low carbon content.During fabrication, the Heat-Affected Zone where the flange meets the pipe will not suffer from carbide precipitation, eliminating the need for costly post-weld heat treatment.
Thermal and Pressure Synchronization
- Thermal Expansion Match:
Under extreme high-temperature or thermal cycling conditions, both the flange and the pipe expand and contract at the exact same rate. This prevents thermal stress build-up at the joint, protecting the gasket from crushed seals or leakage. - Pressure Rating Alignment:
Pipe wall thicknesses are engineered to match standard flange pressure ratings under ASME B31.3 codes to guarantee an equal safety factor across the pipeline.

Frequently Asked Questions
Nickel, molybdenum, and tungsten are inherently expensive and highly volatile commodities.Their high-temperature alloys undergo rapid work hardening, which significantly accelerates tool wear during machining and drilling, making them difficult to machine.
The chemical resistance of the gasket must meet or exceed that of C276.PTFE (Teflon),modified PTFE,or spiral-wound gaskets with Hastelloy C276 winding tape and flexible graphite packing are standard configurations.Never use standard stainless steel inner rings or windings in corrosive acid service.
C22 contains more chromium and performs better in highly oxidative environments.C276,on the other hand, continues to demonstrate excellent performance in highly reductive environments containing localized chlorides and hydrochloric acid.
This alloy can withstand temperatures up to 1093°C (2000°F) in an oxidizing atmosphere.According to the ASME B16.5 Pressure Piping Code, its allowable working pressure decreases progressively when temperatures exceed 38°C (100°F).ASME Section VIII specifies that the maximum temperature for using this material in pressure vessels is 677°C (1250°F) for specific configurations.
When you want to get a quote or release a PO to us, pls clear the information:
Flange type + RF/RTJ/FF + Class (including pipe SCH for WN and SW flange) + Size + Material + Standard + Order Quantity
For example, you want to buy 100 pcs welding neck flange with raised face for your system and the pipe is 8” SCH40S, pressure rate is class 300 in stainless steel 316, the piping design is to ASME, so the description would be:
WNRF flange, 8” 300# SCH40S, A182 F316, ASME B16.5, 100PCS
