Nickel Alloy Inconel 718
Nickel Alloy Inconel 718, also known as UNS N07718, W.Nr. 2.4668, GH4169, is a high-strength, high-temperature resistant alloy composed of nickel, chromium, molybdenum, iron, aluminum and titanium. It is a nickel-based alloy with excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, and is widely applied in high-temperature environments such as aerospace, petrochemical, and nuclear industries.
This nickel-based superalloy shows good resistance to oxidation and other types of corrosion in aerospace engines and land-based gas turbine. It is an ideal material for those requiring excellent performance on aviation creep resistance and corrosion cracking (up to 982°C or 1800°F). Besides, 718 alloy can completely be protected against pitting and bracket corrosion in fluoride, chloride, ridge and other environmental extremes. Even under extreme environment, it still performs excellent in resistance towards oxidation and corrosion with its elongation well maintained. 718 alloy now is applied in many industries, including aerospace, defense and petrochemical.
Under the temperature up to Inconel 1290°F (980°C), alloy 718 performs an exceptional tensile, fatigue, creep, and rupture strengths, which makes it an ideal material to be applied into high-temperature environment, such as gas turbines, instrumentation, and power or process industry components. Moreover, this alloy also performs well in cryogenic areas. Parts made from Inconel 718 can be easily post-hardened by precipitation-hardening heat treatment. Under such conventional and age-hardened conditions, parts can be machined, spark-eroded, welded, micro-shot peened, polished, and coated (if necessary).
