ASEAN, China, US Develop Steel Conversation
Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) had a conversation on steel industry policy with China and the US recently. Indonesia and the members of ASEAN claimed that the cheap steel imports from China arbitrarily circulated at ASEAN market. Consequently, it was necessary to negotiate with China government for ASEAN.
Because of the Chinese government inadequate supervision, Chinese steel exporters misrepresented customs codes of steel product to avoid tax. These illegal behaviors caused a loss to the steel industry within ASEAN country.
However, ASEAN and China steel association would find a solution through conversation on March 30th. Meanwhile, the members of ASEAN strove for tax free on steel and aluminum imports of the US temporarily.
