Japan’s stainless steel scrap exports was rised in july
According to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Japanese stainless steel production increased during the month of July this year. Japan’s stainless steel scrap exports totaled 16532 tons, increased 15.9% month on month. The average export price was 767.08 USD/ton, rose 28.9% month on month, the export prices significantly rose, driving up overall prices. During the first seven months, January-July total exports 87366 tons.
Among them, Japan exported 10218 tons to Korea, an increase of 47% month on month, In January-July this year, Japan exported 48154 tons.
Nickel-based stainless steel output constituted the balance 119,191 tons, accounting for nearly 52% of the total stainless steel output. The monthly output of nickel-based stainless steel dropped slightly in comparison with the output of 121,462 tons a month before.
There are many types of stainless steel scraps such as Mixed Magnetic Stainless Steel Scrap, 310 Stainless Steel Scrap and 316 Stainless Steel Scrap. As for 316 Stainless Steel Scrap, it shall consist of sorted AISI type 316 stainless steel solids and shall have a chemical composition of 0.08% Carbon, 16-18% Chromium, 2-3% Molybdenum, 2% Manganese, 10-14% Nickel, 0.045 Phosphorous 0.030% Sulfur, 1.0% Silicon and the balance Iron.
