On August 18, Chongqing Chuandong Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, held the groundbreaking ceremony of COSCO SHIPPING’s 13800-dwt stainless steel chemical tanker No. 2 (HT0188), marking the official transfer of the ship from the pre-production technical preparation stage to production Construction phase.

In February 2020, Sichuan Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and Shanghai COSCO Shipping Co., Ltd. signed a contract for the construction of two 13,800-dwt stainless steel chemical tankers.
Ship No. 1 started construction on June 2 and is currently building carbon steel and stainless steel in sections according to the production plan.

While doing a good job in the construction of the No. 1 ship, Sichuan Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. actively strengthened the contact with the ship owner and design institute, and stepped up the preparations for the preliminary production technology of the No. 2 ship to ensure that the construction of the No. 2 ship started as planned.
On the same day, Sichuan Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and China Shipbuilding Trading Corporation, as joint sellers, signed a letter of intent for the construction of an 8,000-dwt chemical tanker with China Shipping Chemical Transportation Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shanghai COSCO Shipping. After the DWT stainless steel chemical tanker project, they once again cooperated. Next, the three parties will finalize specific cooperation matters as soon as possible and formally sign a construction contract.
It is reported that the 8000-dwt chemical tanker is about 119 meters long, 18.5 meters wide, 9.4 meters deep, has a design draft of 6.3 meters, a deadweight of about 7990 tons, a speed of 12.8 knots, and a battery life of about 6000 nautical miles. It is classified as CCS. Hang the five-star red flag. This is the second type of ship with a smart ship symbol after the company has undertaken a 13,800-dwt ship.
