Hastelloy X Superalloy Pipe Supplier in China

    Hastelloy X Pipe Supplier

As a trusted hastelloy x pipe supplier in China,we offer hastelloy x pipes, fittings, flanges, and comprehensive industrial solutions.
Hastelloy X is a high-performance nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum superalloy specifically designed for extreme high-temperature environments.
Hastelloy X pipe is a piping component made from this material, valued for its unique combination of oxidation resistance, exceptional strength at temperatures up to 2200℉ (1200℃),and ease of fabrication.

    Applications

Hastelloy X (Alloy X) pipes and fittings are primarily used in high-temperature,high-stress environments where oxidation and carburization resistance are critical. While the alloy itself is famous for jet engine parts,in piping and fitting form,it is essential for conveying hot gases and corrosive fluids in industrial processes.

What is The Purpose of The High Iron (Fe) Content?

Unlike many other nickel-based high-temperature alloys, which minimize iron content to maximize corrosion resistance,Hastelloy X contains a high percentage of iron.Iron acts as a solid-solution hardener, enhancing high-temperature strength and stability.Compared to low-iron high-temperature alloys,it improves the alloy’s formability and weldability. This helps reduce overall material costs without compromising its signature oxidation resistance.

How Does Chromium (Cr) Contribute to Its Performance?

Chromium is the primary element responsible for this alloy’s excellent environmental resistance. It forms a “tough” and stable protective oxide layer on the surface, preventing degradation at high temperatures. The oxide layer also effectively resists the effects of oxidizing, reducing, and neutral atmospheres.

Mechanical Properties of Hastelloy X Pipe

The mechanical properties of hastelloy x pipes and tubes are characterized by a high strength-to-weight ratio and exceptional stability under prolonged thermal exposure. These properties are typically measured in the solution heat-treated condition(annealed at 2150℉[1177℃] and rapid cooled).
For pipes and tubes, the following typical minimum values are required to meet ASTM B619/B622 and ASME SB619/SB622 standards:
Tensile StrengthYield Strength (0.2% Offset)ElongationHardness (Max)
    ≥ 655 MPa(95 ksi)≥ 240 MPa(35 ksi)≥ 35%90 – 95 HRB(180 – 220 HBW)

    High-Temperature Tensile Strength

One of Hastelloy X’s defining features is its ability to retain significant mechanical integrity as temperatures rise.Below is a representation of how its tensile strength behaves at extreme temperatures:

    Creep and Stress-Rupture Strength

    • In long-term service (e.g., in furnaces and kilns),creep resistance (slow deformation under load) is more critical than instantaneous tensile strength.
    • Typical 10,000-hour fracture strength:
At 1500°F (815°C), Hastelloy X alloy can withstand a stress of approximately 8.5 ksi (59 MPa) for up to 10,000 hours before failure.
    • Ductility Retention:
Unlike many superalloys that become brittle over time,Alloy X exhibits good ductility even after 16,000 hours of exposure to temperatures between 1200℉ and 1600℉.

    FAQs About Hastelloy X Pipe

Yes.It exhibits exceptional resistance to carburization and nitriding, which are the primary causes of failure in other high-temperature alloys used in industrial furnaces and petrochemical plants.

Due to work hardening,it is more difficult to machine than ordinary stainless steel. To machine it successfully,it is necessary to use rigid fixtures, sharp carbide or ceramic cutting tools, and low cutting speeds, while maintaining a constant feed rate to prevent “welding” of the tool to the surface.

Choose inconel 625 pipe for applications requiring higher tensile and fatigue strength at moderately high temperatures(1800℉).
Choose hastelloy X pipe when the environment involves extremely high temperatures (1800 – 2200℉) or specifically requires resistance to carburization.
