Selection Of Consumables When Welding Duplex Stainless Steel And Other Steels
When two different stainless steels are welded, usually the higher grade stainless steels should be used as the matching welding consumables. For example, when welding 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe and 2507 duplex stainless steel, 25-10-4 material should be used.
Duplex stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel are the most commonly used ultra-low carbon austenitic stainless steel rod with Mo content between the two, such as AWS E309LMo rod and ER309LMo wire.
When welding duplex stainless steel and low carbon steel, E309L welding rod and E309L welding wire can also be used. Of course, AWS E309LMo ER309LMo can also be used, but because low carbon steel and low alloy steel do not contain Mo, it is not necessary Containing Mo welding consumables.
When welding duplex stainless steel and low-carbon steel or and low-alloy steel, nickel-based alloy rods can also be used, but this type of welding consumables cannot contain niobium, because a small amount of niobium may cause hot cracks.
