ChelPipe Group said Russia’s consumption of stainless steel seamless pipes last year increased by 28.8% year-on-year to 38,000 tons

According to statistics from Russian pipe fittings supplier Chelpipe Group, one of the world’s largest pipe companies, the consumption of stainless steel seamless pipes in Russia in 2019 was approximately 38,000 tons, an increase of 28.8% year-on-year.

The increase in consumption of this variety of pipes last year was mainly due to the increase in imports, because the industry generally expected that steel pipe prices would rise and Chinese steel pipes would face import tariffs.

According to Russian pipe fittings supplier, the apparent demand for this product will fall to 34,000-35,000 tons in 2020, but the actual consumption  will be basically the same as in 2019. About 80% of the demand for seamless stainless steel pipes in Russia comes from the mechanical engineering, energy and petrochemical industries.
