    Alloy 600 Surface & End Finish

    Surface finishes for 600 alloy are typically classified according to rolling processes.
    A No. 1 finish is a dull,non-reflective surface treatment.
    A 2D finish presents a uniform matte appearance.
    A 2B finish is similar to 2D but undergoes a final light cold rolling pass through polished rolls,resulting in a smooth,slightly reflective “fogged mirror” appearance.
    BA (Bright Annealed) delivers a highly reflective,high-gloss,mirror-like surface.
    Polished/sanded finishes include No. 4 (Brushed) for a satin appearance and No. 8 (Mirror) for maximum reflectivity.
    End preparation is typically performed via mechanical sawing or plasma cutting.For plasma-cut edges,the heat-affected zone (HAZ) must be removed by grinding to sound metal.Post-cutting deburring is mandatory to prevent surface damage and ensure fit-up integrity.For butt-welded joints,the pipe ends must be beveled (typically to 37.5°) according to wall thickness to ensure full penetration.For socket welding or mechanical couplings,the ends must be square-cut and flat to allow for flush seating and proper alignment.

    It is easily weldable.Standard welding processes such as TIG (GTAW),MIG (GMAW),and SMAW can be used.Commonly used filler metals include AWS ENiCrFe-3 electrodes and ERNiCr-3 welding wire.

    Designed for continuous operating temperatures ranging from cryogenic conditions to 1093°C (2000°F).Within this temperature range,it maintains mechanical integrity and resists oxidation and scaling.

    Yes.Due to its extremely high nickel content,it is virtually immune to stress corrosion cracking caused by chloride ions.

    Because it exhibits outstanding structural stability in high-temperature,high-pressure pure water.It is primarily used in steam generator heat transfer tubes,capable of withstanding extreme pressure differentials and complex chemical corrosion environments without cracking.

    It exhibits excellent resistance to weakly reducing acids and performs exceptionally well in alkaline solutions.However,in strongly oxidizing acids,its performance falls short of specialized high-chromium alloys.
