China’s Stainless Steel Exported To The US Fell By 58%, And Stainless Steel Products Fell By 5%

In November 2019, the volume of stainless steel exported from mainland China to the United States was about 34,400 tons (about 1% of total domestic exports), a decrease of 100 tons month-on-month, a decrease of 2.6%; a year-on-year decrease of 0.46 million tons, a decrease of 58% .

In the same month, the volume of stainless steel products exported from mainland China to the United States (Figure 1) was about 12,000 tons, a decrease of 500 tons month-on-month, or a decrease of 3.9%; a year-on-year decrease of 700 tons, a decrease of 5.2%.

From January to November 2019, the amount of stainless steel exported from China to the United States was about 53,000 tons (about 1.6% of total domestic exports), a year-on-year decrease of 86,000 tons, a decrease of 13.9%; the volume of stainless steel products was about 121,000 Tons, an increase of 7 million tons, an increase of 6.1%.

Note: The volume of stainless steel products exported to the United States only counts the total exports of stainless steel sinks and washbasins, stainless steel dining tables, kitchens and other household stainless steel appliances, stainless steel endless belts, and stainless steel woven fabrics.

Most of the stainless steel products exported from mainland China to the United States are concentrated in stainless steel appliances such as stainless steel dining tables and kitchens. In November, the volume was about 0.97 million tons, a decrease of 6.2% month-on-month and an increase of 8.3% year-on-year.

As for other stainless steel products, such as Chinese-made stainless steel pipe, duplex pipe and fittings exports to the United States are still optimistic.

From January to November, there were 96,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%.

This was followed by stainless steel sinks and washbasins. In November, the volume was about 0.18 million tons, an increase of 12.2% month-on-month and a decrease of 38.3% year-on-year. From January to November, a total of 18,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.1%.

The volume of other woven fabrics made of stainless steel in November was about 530.8 tons, a decrease of 6.4% month-on-month and a decrease of 39.7% year-on-year. From January to November, there were a total of 66,600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 17.1%.

The volume of endless belts for stainless steel machines is very small, with a total of 22.5 tons this year (accumulated from January to November 2019).
