    The relationship between Hastelloy C22 flanges and Hastelloy C22 pipes is a highly engineered system where both components must work in perfect technical,chemical,and physical harmony.Because these systems are deployed in the world’s most corrosive and high-pressure environments,the interface between the flange and the pipe dictates the safety of the entire facility.

    Dimensional and Structural Matching

    • Bore Matching:
      The inner diameter of a weld neck flange must be machined to exactly match the internal schedule of the C22 pipe.This ensures a smooth,seamless fluid flow inside,preventing turbulent zones that can lead to localized erosion.
    • Sizing Standards:
      Flanges are sized using ASME B16.5 or B16.47,which corresponds precisely to the nominal pipe size standards governing the pipes under ASME B36.19.A 4-inch Class 300 flange will precisely fit a 4-inch pipe.

    Yes,but with caution.This is known as a dissimilar metal weld.It can be successfully done using Alloy C22 filler metal (ERNiCrMo-10). However,the overall corrosion resistance of that specific joint will be limited by the lower-grade stainless steel pipe,and galvanic corrosion could become a factor depending on the chemical media flowing through the system.

    Their premium cost is driven by two factors:raw materials and machining difficulty.The alloy contains high percentages of expensive elements like nickel,molybdenum,and tungsten.Because the material is engineered to resist high-temperature deformation,it causes severe tool wear during the forging and machining processes,increasing manufacturing costs.
