TISCO Ordered The Most Powerful Rolling Mill From SMS Group
On July 18, 2020, TISCO, located in Taiyuan, Shanxi, China, placed an order with SMS group to provide it with a 4.3-meter thick plate rolling mill.
The new machine has high forming force and is equipped with an environmentally friendly dust removal system.
The core of the new heavy plate production machine is a rolling mill stand group consisting of a vertical and a four-high rolling mill.
The four-high rolling mill stand is characterized by its superb rolling force and correspondingly high forming force. The combination of the large roll gap opening and the coaxial CVC plus system (continuously variable crown) is a newly developed technical result, which can make the incoming material thickness up to 960 mm, thus greatly expanding its product range. In order to be able to process short billets, the stand of the thick plate vertical rolling mill will also be equipped with a newly developed support roller table.
The device is designed to roll extreme-size cast billets into steel plates, and it is also suitable for rolling small-size cast billets. This will make production flexible and ensure the strictest geometric tolerances.
The maximum rolling force of this four-high reversing mill stand is 109 MN, even special materials can be rolled reliably. The mill stand will be equipped with the most advanced brakes to set the required steel plate geometry, and in addition to hydraulic roll gap adjustment, the mill is also equipped with integrated work roll bending and patented coaxial CVC plus technology.
The vertical roll mill will also be equipped with a mechanical/hydraulic roll gap adjustment device to achieve extremely small width tolerances.
The heavy plate rolling mill is designed to produce 700,000 tons per year, producing steel plates with a thickness of 5-120 mm and a width of 1,550-4,200 mm.
Its product range includes carbon steel, high-quality steel, low-alloy steel, ship/bridge and pressure vessel construction grade steel, weathering and wear-resistant steel plate, pipe grade steel that meets API standards, stainless steel and nickel-based materials.
The rolling mill stand group will be equipped with a newly developed integrated dust removal system, which can collect dust directly at the roll gap during the rolling process. In this way, during production, for example, when special alloys are rolled, emissions can be greatly prevented. The scope of supply of the order includes the complete engineering design of the most powerful one stand with a rolling width of up to 4.3 meters so far, as well as the supply of all mechanical core components, equipped with a vertical rolling mill, and X-Pact electrical automation system is installed in the hot rolling area of the heavy plate mill.
The first-level automation system is completely based on X-Pact technology. The X-Pact Vision operating concept is designed according to the latest ergonomics, enabling employees to intuitively operate the system to achieve optimal process control. The secondary process automation system includes technical process models ranging from PSC (rolling schedule calculation) to PFC (plate type control) to higher-level MTS (material tracking system).
Before delivery, the preparation of the X-Pact electrical automation system also includes the plug-and-play integration test developed by SMS group for quick commissioning on site.
The order is scheduled to start production in mid-2022.
