Stainless Steel 90 Degree Elbow Manufacturer & Supplier in China

Stainless Steel 90 Degree Elbow Supplier in China

UMA stainless steel 90 degree elbow is a critical plumbing and piping component designed to connect two separate pipes or tubes at a perpendicular angle, altering the direction of fluid, gas,or steam flow by exactly 90 degrees. Constructed from high-grade corrosion-resistant alloys,it is commonly utilized across severe industrial, marine, chemical, and food-processing environments.

    Core Structural Designs

    • Long Radius (LR) Elbow:
The center-to-face dimension equals 1.5 times the nominal pipe diameter. It is widely favored for standard piping systems because it ensures a more gradual bend, minimizes friction loss, and lowers system pressure drops.
    • Short Radius (SR) Elbow:
The center-to-face dimension is identical to the nominal pipe diameter. These “sharp turn” fittings are utilized when working within tight space constraints where a long radius cannot physically fit.
    • Reducing Elbow:
Features different inlet and outlet diameters to seamlessly transition the line to a smaller or larger pipe size while changing direction.

Connection Methods For A Stainless Steel 90 Degree Elbow

    • Butt-Weld (BW):
The ends are chamfered so they can be welded directly to pipes. This creates a seamless,leak-proof,continuous metal structure designed for highly critical, high-pressure,or high-temperature pipelines.
    • Threaded (NPT or BSP):
Features internal female or external male threads.Commonly used in lower-pressure utility lines or plumbing setups where parts must be easily taken apart for maintenance.
    • Socket Weld (SW):
The pipe slips directly into a recessed area of the fitting before being sealed with a fillet weld. This design is optimized for smaller pipe diameters managing high structural loads.

Surface Finishes For 90 Degree Stainless Steel Elbow

In the manufacturing of 90 degree stainless steel elbows, surface treatment directly determines the product’s corrosion resistance, hygiene standards, fluid resistance, and visual appeal.Different applications have mandatory industry standards for surface roughness.

    Pickled & Annealed Finish - NO.1 / 2B

After being formed by hot pushing or welding, elbows develop a black oxide scale on their surface.Pickling removes this scale,re-exposing the stainless steel surface and forming a dense,silvery-white passivation layer.
    Ruma ≥ 2.5 μm.

    Sandblasted / Shot Blasted Finish

Compressed air is used to propel quartz sand, glass beads,or stainless steel shot at high speed onto the surface of the elbow, removing impurities through mechanical impact and creating a uniform silver-gray surface texture.
    Ruma ≈ 1.6 – 3.2 μm.

    Mechanically Polished Finish

Use polishing wheels, sanding belts,or flap discs of varying grits to physically grind the surface of the elbow—particularly the inner walls or welds—progressing from coarse to fine. This creates a brushed/matt or mirror-like finish.
    Ruma ≤ 0.5 – 0.8 μm.

    Electropolished Finish

The elbow is used as an anode and placed in a specialized acidic electrolyte solution, where an electric current is applied. The electrochemical reaction preferentially dissolves microscopic protrusions on the surface of the elbow, resulting in a perfectly smooth and polished finish.
    Ruma ≤ 0.13 – 0.38 μm.

    Sanitary SF1 - SF4

In the field of international sanitary-grade pipe fittings, surface treatment is subject to extremely strict classification codes, and manufacturers must strictly adhere to these standards:
    SF GradeProcessing MethodMax Ruma Limit
    SF1Polimento mecânico≤ 0.51 μm (20 μin)
    SF3Polimento mecânico≤ 0.76 μm (30 μin)
    SF4Electrolytic Polishing≤ 0.38 μm (15 μin)

Black Oxide / PVD Coated Finish

Using chemical blackening or physical vapor deposition (PVD) techniques,an extremely thin yet hard layer of metal compounds in various colors—such as black, gold, and rose gold—is formed on the surface of the elbow.
Specifically designed for structural elbows used in high-end interior architecture, exhibition halls, and custom modern furniture. It is not part of standard industrial fluid piping practices.

FAQs About Stainless Steel 90 Degree Elbow

A long-radius elbow has a bending radius equal to 1.5 times the pipe’s nominal diameter. It has a gentler curve, resulting in lower fluid resistance and pressure loss.A short-radius elbow has a bending radius equal to 1 times the pipe’s nominal diameter. It has a very sharp bend and high fluid resistance, and is used only in special applications where space is extremely limited and a long-radius elbow cannot fit.

Butt-weld elbows feature beveled edges and are directly butt-welded to the pipe. This provides the strongest connection and is 100% leak-proof,making it suitable for critical industrial pipelines with large diameters, high pressure, and high temperatures.
Socket-welding involves inserting the pipe directly into the socket of the elbow and then welding it from the outside. No pre-beveling is required, and alignment is easy.Suitable for high-pressure pipelines up to 2″.
Threaded connections use NPT or BSP threads. No welding is required, making disassembly and maintenance convenient at any time.Suitable for medium- and low-pressure applications in residential, light industrial,or temporary, easily removable piping systems.

We can provide material test reports for 100% of our stainless steel 90-degree elbows that comply with the EN 10204 3.1 standard. These reports include complete chemical composition analysis, mechanical property testing, and the results of hydrostatic testing or non-destructive testing. In addition, our factory is certified to ISO 9001 and holds CE/PED certification for pressure equipment.

This is not a myth.Genuine austenitic stainless steel is indeed non-magnetic or weakly magnetic at room temperature.
However, during the manufacturing process, elbows undergo intense mechanical cold working, hydraulic forming, bending,or stamping. During this deformation process, the austenitic structure inside the stainless steel undergoes localized microstructural transformations, resulting in strain-induced martensite. Martensite is ferromagnetic,so processed elbows will exhibit varying degrees of magnetism.
This does not affect corrosion resistance in any way.If you have strict non-magnetic requirements,we can help eliminate this processing-induced magnetism through high-temperature solution annealing.
