Metallurgical Microstructure & Heat Treatment Impact
Solution Annealed + Aged
Heated to around 1900°F (1038°C) to dissolve phases into a uniform blend, followed by rapid cooling.
Aged at 1300°F (704°C) to precipitate fine Gamma Prime. This optimizes tensile strength up to 1200°F (649°C).
Triple Heat Treated
Solution annealed at 2100°F (1149°C) for grain growth.
Intermediate aged at 1550°F (843°C) to precipitate carbides at grain boundaries.
Final aged at 1300°F (704°C) for maximum Gamma Prime formation. This unlocks performance up to 1500°F–1800°F (815°C–982°C).

Performance mécanique à haute température
- Up to 1200°F (649°C):
The tensile and yield strengths remain nearly flat compared to room temperature values. This stability is driven by the Gamma Prime (γ‘) precipitates which pin the crystalline matrix. - 1200°F to 1500°F (649°C to 815°C):
The tensile strength gradually begins to decline, but the plate still provides exceptional creep-rupture resistance. It resists stretching or breaking over thousands of hours under steady stress. - Cryogenic Strength:
X750 does not become brittle at freezing temperatures. It retains excellent impact strength and ductility all the way down to -423°F (-253°C),making it valuable for liquid rocket propellant systems.

The Two Principal Heat Treatments
Fabricating and Machining Considerations
The same mechanical properties that make X750 tough in service also make it a challenge to process in a workshop:
- Work Hardening:
Because the alloy is incredibly tough,it work-hardens very quickly during cutting operations. Machining or drilling should always be performed while the plate is in the solution annealed condition, utilizing heavy, rigid machinery, sharp carbide tools, and constant positive feeds to avoid glazing the surface. - Post-Weld Heat Treatment:
If you weld sections of X750 plate together, the localized intense heat disrupts the grain structures. To restore uniform mechanical properties across the weld joint, the entire fabricated assembly should be re-solution annealed and aged.
Our Advantages in Manufacturing Inconel X750 Plate
Advanced Heat Treatment
Complete mastery over complex,multi-stage precipitation-hardening heat treatments, such as AMS 5542 standard aging and high-temperature triple-aging protocols.
Ensures precise and uniform formation of gamma prime (γ’) precipitates across the entire plate. This eliminates localized brittleness and prevents material distortion under extreme thermal stress.
Precision Rolling Mills
High-performance rolling mills capable of processing high-strength nickel-base superalloys to strict dimensional tolerances with exceptional surface finishes.
Delivers plates with superior flatness and minimal gauge variance. This drastically reduces material waste and tool wear during your customers’ secondary machining or grinding operations.
Strict Melt Control
Utilization of premium melting techniques-such as vacuum induction melting (VIM) and vacuum arc remelting (VAR)-to ensure ultra-clean chemical homogeneity.
Strictly locks critical elements into tight target ranges while eliminating trace impurities. This guarantees consistent lot-to-lot weldability and long-term creep resistance.
Aerospace Quality Assurance
A multi-layered,fully traceable inspection framework certified to global standards including AS9100, ISO 9001, and NADCAP.
Backed by rigorous NDT-such as ultrasonic voids scanning and dye penetrant testing-ensuring 100% compliance for mission-critical nuclear and aerospace applications.
FAQs About Inconel X750 Plate
Inconel 718 is stronger below 1200°F (649°C),but X750 provides superior relaxation and creep resistance at higher temperatures up to 1500°F (815°C).
It work-hardens instantly under cutting pressure,so you must machine it in the soft solution annealed condition using sharp carbide tools and a constant, positive feed rate.
Yes,weld it in the Solution Annealed condition using Inconel 718 or 625 filler wire, then perform a full Post-Weld Heat Treatment to prevent strain-age cracking.
Aerospace applications require AMS 5542 or AMS 5598,industrial/pressure uses require ASTM B637 or ASME SB637,and the material system code is UNS N07750.
Standard aging optimizes tensile strength and fatigue life for service below 1200°F,while triple aging maximizes long-term creep-rupture performance and ductility for service above 1200°F.
