    • Work Hardening:
      Because of its high nickel content,Inconel 601 work-hardens rapidly during cold forming.Heavy-duty tooling and slower,steady feed rates are necessary during shearing and drilling.
    • Weld Strength:
      When properly welded using matching filler metals (such as Inconel Filler Metal 617 or Welding Electrode 182),the joint retains mechanical properties and high-temperature ductility virtually identical to the base plate material.

    FAQs About Inconel 601 Plate

    Inconel 601 plate can withstand continuous service temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C) in oxidizing environments.Its unique chemistry prevents heavy scaling and oxidation even under rapid thermal cycling.
    • Choose Annealed plates if your project requires heavy cold-bending,shearing,or forming.It offers maximum ductility.
    • Choose Solution-Treated plates if the component will operate under structural loads at temperatures above 1000°F (540°C).This state maximizes long-term creep-rupture strength.
    It excels in highly oxidizing,nitriding,and carburizing atmospheres.However,like most high-nickel alloys,it should not be used in high-temperature atmospheres that are rich in sulfur,as sulfur will attack the nickel and cause premature embrittlement.
    • For applications operating over 1000°F,Inconel Filler Metal 617 (ERNiCrCoMo-1) or Welding Electrode 182 is highly recommended.
    • For lower temperature applications,Inconel 82 or 182 can be used.
