    Key Differences from Other C-Alloys:

    • Tungsten-free (W):
contrairement à Hastelloy C276 pipe,C4 does not contain tungsten. This improvement, combined with the addition of titanium, significantly enhances its thermal stability and prevents the precipitation of brittle phases during welding.
    • High Purity:
Extremely low carbon and silicon content is critical for maintaining corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition.

What is The Main Difference in Composition Between C4 And C276?

Does C4 Pipe Material Meet Food-grade or Pharmaceutical-grade Standards?

Oui.Due to its extremely high chemical stability and the absence of harmful leachable elements,C4 is commonly used in the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries. Its extremely low impurity content (P, S, Si) ensures that it does not contaminate the medium in high-purity processes.

Mechanical Properties of Hastelloy C4 Pipe

The mechanical properties of Hastelloy C4 steel tubes are typically measured in the solution-annealed condition. This alloy is known for maintaining high ductility and toughness even after prolonged exposure to high-temperature environments.

    Key Performance Characteristics

    • High Ductility:
C4 tubing has an elongation of 40% or higher, making it easy to form, and it offers excellent impact resistance and thermal shock resistance.
    • Thermal Stability:
Unlike many other nickel alloys,C4 does not become brittle when heated within the temperature range of 650°C to 1040°C (1200°F to 1900°F).It retains its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance after welding.
    • Modulus of Elasticity:
      Approximately 211 GPa (30.6 x 10⁶ psi) at room temperature,comparable to other high-performance nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys.
    • Impact Strength:
Maintains excellent toughness in both extremely low and high temperature environments.

Does C4 Become Brittle at High Temperatures?

Many nickel-based alloys exhibit the precipitation of brittle phases after prolonged exposure to temperatures ranging from 650°C to 1040°C,resulting in a significant decrease in toughness.
However, due to its unique chemical composition,C4 demonstrates exceptional thermal stability within this temperature range, maintaining good ductility and corrosion resistance even after prolonged exposure, without suffering from severe embrittlement.

Does Welding Reduce The Mechanical Properties of Pipe Joints?

If handled properly, pas de.C4 was originally designed to address the issue of performance degradation in the heat-affected zone of welds.Due to its extremely low carbon content and titanium stabilization, the strength and toughness near the weld are essentially the same as those of the base material, and no post-weld heat treatment is required to restore properties.

    FAQs About Hastelloy C4 Pipe

    • Inorganic Acids:Such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and phosphoric acid in various concentrations.
    • Oxidizing Media:Wet chlorine gas,hypochlorites.
    • Organic Acids:Acetic acid,formic acid.
    • Chloride Solutions:Exhibits excellent resistance to pitting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking caused by chloride ions.

The role of titanium is to stabilize carbon. It preferentially combines with trace amounts of carbon in the alloy to form titanium carbide, thereby preventing chromium from combining with carbon to form chromium carbide. This prevents the occurrence of “chromium depletion” at grain boundaries, fundamentally resolving the issue of intergranular corrosion.
