What is the difference between Hastelloy C22 and C276?

In fact, those two alloys are almost the same, and just few differences remain between each other.

Alloy C22: Hastelloy C22, UNS N06022, W.Nr.2.4602, NiCr21Mo14W

Alloy C276: Hastelloy C276, UNS N10276, W.Nr. 2.4819, NiCr16Mo15W

a) In Element Components

As can be seen from the above, among the main components, the content of Ni, Fe and Co are almost the same, only Mo and Cr slightly differ.

For Hastelloy C22, it performs better in corrosion resistance than C276 does, which can be taken as the upgraded C276.

Hastelloy C22 vs C276 Price

On purchasing, the welding materials for C276 is easier to be found. As for the welding materials for C22, there are just one to two inventory shops.

On usage, C22 performs better than C276. However, those two can be used under most circumstances.

On material cost, those two are nearly the same due to few differences in their components. And the cost for C22 should have been cheaper than C276 because the density of C22 is smaller than C276. However, C22 cannot be widely produced and supplied, which causing a higher cost for C22.
