Foi desenvolvido e comercializado em 1905 pela International Nickel Company (Inco Alloys) com a marca registrada MONEL.<\/p><p>Os pr\u00f3ximos marcos importantes foram os <strong>liga de n\u00edquel-molibd\u00eanio B<\/strong> e o<strong> liga de n\u00edquel-cromo-molibd\u00eanio-tungst\u00eanio C<\/strong>que foram lan\u00e7ados por volta de 1930. Seu inventor foi a Haynes Stellite Company (Haynes International). Dois deles est\u00e3o registrados sob a marca comercial HASTELLOY.<\/p><p>O pr\u00f3ximo est\u00e1gio importante no desenvolvimento de ligas \u00e0 base de n\u00edquel veio da Inco. O desenvolvimento de <strong>liga de n\u00edquel-cromo e ferro 600<\/strong> em 1931 e <strong>liga de n\u00edquel-ferro-cromo<\/strong> em 1949, foram denominados INCONEL e INCOLOY, respectivamente.<br \/>A Inco e a Haynes aproveitaram a popularidade e a reputa\u00e7\u00e3o dessas marcas registradas iniciais para introduzir um total de cerca de 50 ligas resistentes \u00e0 corros\u00e3o e ao calor. As ligas \u00e0 base de n\u00edquel tamb\u00e9m foram desenvolvidas nos EUA em meados da d\u00e9cada de 1940, na URSS no final da d\u00e9cada de 1940 e na China em meados da d\u00e9cada de 1950.<\/p><p>Seu desenvolvimento incluiu melhorias na composi\u00e7\u00e3o da liga e inova\u00e7\u00f5es nos processos de produ\u00e7\u00e3o.<br \/>No in\u00edcio da d\u00e9cada de 1950, o desenvolvimento da tecnologia de fus\u00e3o a v\u00e1cuo criou as condi\u00e7\u00f5es para o refino de ligas \u00e0 base de n\u00edquel contendo altos n\u00edveis de alum\u00ednio e tit\u00e2nio.<\/p><p>No final da d\u00e9cada de 1950, as temperaturas operacionais mais altas das l\u00e2minas de turbina exigiam ligas com maior resist\u00eancia a altas temperaturas. Entretanto, a alta resist\u00eancia da liga dificulta, se n\u00e3o impossibilita, a deforma\u00e7\u00e3o.
