WT 0.2mm Stainless Steel Seamless Pipe Has Been Mass-produced
On September 21, 2020, the 23.5*0.2*8000mm seamless ultra thin wall pipe developed by a Chinese company officially rolled off the production line. It was publicly displayed at the 9th China International Tube Exhibition on September 23.
The production of this ultra thin wall pipe with a wall thickness close to that of paper marks a subversive development in the manufacturing technology of stainless steel seamless pipes.
Difficulties in manufacturing traditional ultra thin wall pipes:
Longer process flow: traditional cold-rolled stainless steel seamless pipes have limited section shrinkage in a single pass, so oiling, cold rolling, degreasing, and heat treatment must be repeated when producing very thin-walled seamless pipes.
Higher energy consumption: the repeated rolling process requires repeated oiling, degreasing, and heat treatment, which results in high energy consumption.
The cost of ultra-thin-wall seamless pipes remains high due to long process flow, high energy consumption, low single-line output, and unfriendly environment.
In view of the above reasons, the limit wall thickness of ultra-thin seamless pipes produced by traditional Chinese technology is 0.6mm. Continued wall reduction may cause out-of-control dimensional accuracy such as rolling cracks, ovality, and wall thickness uniformity.
Due to the above reasons, the traditional pipe manufacturing industry mostly uses welded pipes for ultra-thin-walled pipes. But welded pipe has an inevitable natural defect: welding gap. There is a certain probability of leakage in the welding seam during the process of conveying fluid media, and the ovality of the welded pipe cannot be well controlled, so the reliability of the pipe connection may be affected. The market has unanimously recognized the reliability and safety of seamless pipes, but in view of the difficulty in breaking through the bottleneck of process production, the price of ultra-thin-walled pipes remains high, and market demand is suppressed.
Stainless steel pipe fittings supplier, KAYSUNS has successfully produced low-cost and mass-produced ultra-thin-wall stainless steel seamless pipes below 0.6mm. The process flow is shortened by 50%, the energy consumption is greatly reduced, and the production process does not need to be oiled and oiled, which is green and environmentally friendly. It is possible to use stainless steel seamless pipes in heat exchanger tubes, civil stainless steel water pipes, gas transmission pipes and other applications.
