Alloy 625 VS Alloy 601

Alloy 625 VS Alloy 601, which is better for you? They’re both suitable for tubes en acier inoxydable et raccords de tuyauterie en acier inoxydable that work in high-temperature environments. But it’s important to understand the exact differences to know the answer.

What Are Alloy 625 and Alloy 601? High-Temperature Specialists!

Alloy 625 Pipe | N06625 | W.Nr. 2.4856 Nickel Alloy Pipe & Tube est un nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. It is known for its high strength and has a wide range of corrosion resistance. This alloy excels in many aggressive media.

Alloy 601 (UNS N06601, EN 2.4851) is a nickel-chromium alloy characterized by the addition of aluminum. This gives it excellent corrosion resistance and performance in high-temperature oxidizing and carburizing environments.

Alloy 625 vs Alloy 601: Key Differentiators

Alloy 625 has a wide range of corrosion resistance and high strength. Alloy 601 is primarily used for high-temperature oxidation and has good carburization resistance.

Alloy 625 contains high levels of molybdène and niobium, which enhance corrosion. Alloy 601 contains aluminum and to a lesser extent molybdenum, which enhances oxidation resistance.

Both can withstand high temperatures. Alloy 601 is usually preferred for continuous oxidation up to 1200 °C (2200 °F).

Alloy 625 is more resistant to corrosion than the other, resisting acids and chlorides. Alloy 601 performs well in dry heat oxidation environments, but it is less resistant to wet corrosion.

Alloy 625 generally has high room and high temperature strength, while Alloy 601 is more dependent on the protection of its oxide layer.

Applications in Stainless Steel Pipe and Fittings

    • Alloy 625: Chemical processing (strong acids), aerospace (exhaust systems), marine (seawater components) and pollution control (flue gas desulphurization systems). Because it combines high strength with broad resistance to wet corrosion.
    • Alloy 601 : The material of choice for high-temperature furnaces, including radiant tubes, mufflers and burner nozzles. It excels in heat treatment facilities. It is also resistant to carburization in petrochemical applications.
    • Piping Systems: These two alloys make important pipes and fittings that can cope with specific extreme conditions.
